You've made it! You now find yourself at
the end of one of the nriost important of
life's journeys you started 12 years ago.
While this may only be one of the many
hurdles in your life, I hope Wilmington
High School will always remain in the
center of your memories. During my first
year here, I have learned many of the
values that you all hold true as members
of the WHS family. I have witnessed
Wildcat Pride in action all around me and
I am proud to be a member of our family!
The advice I gave you the first day we met still holds true, be respectful,
be responsible and cooperative. It's a simple way to live in a life that
won't often be so simple. I'm not sure I can put the right words together
to celebrate this wonderful occasion, but I suppose Green Day said it
best in their lyrics when they sang:

"Another turning point

A fork stuck in tiie road

Time grabs you by tlie wrist

Directs you wliere to go

So make thie best of this test

And don't ask why

It's not a question

But a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable

But in the end is right

I hope you had the time of your life"

I hope you did have the time of your life. Dream great dreams and set
goals realistic and attainable. Be curious about life, but stay safe as
you pursue your purpose. Persistence and determination are the keys
to making it all come true. If you fail at something, get back at it and
make it happen. Most of all, believe in yourself, love your friends and
family and live to help others.

I am proud of all of you. Thank you for making WHS a great place
everyday. Your unselfish contributions have been the backbone of
WHS. Through good times and tough times, we always worked
together to make things all right for everyone. Continue the tradition!

August 28*, 2001, we began a new
chapter in our lives. As the class of
2005, we began our four-year
journey through the halls of Wilmington
High School. Little did we know, our next
four years would fly by. As a class, our first
major decision was to elect the freshman
class officers. Clayton Huynh was elected
as president, Katie Sterling as vice
president, Jen Corcoran as treasurer, and
Krystina Smith as secretary. Within less
than a month into the school year the entire
nation was horrified by the attacks on
September ll"". From that point on, our
lives changed forever. As a class we grew
stronger, by supporting one another, as
well as the families who suffered in such a
terrible tragedy. With remembrance of
that day still fresh in our minds, the year
went on. Though many of us struggled at
first, we began to enjoy our time at
Wilmington High. Many of us became
involved in numerous clubs, ranging from
collecting food for the less fortunate, to
learning about the cultures of other
countries. Through the end, we all took a
sigh of relief as our freshman year came to
an end, and we waited our sophomore
year.

It was now our second year. Less anxious
and more confident, the class of 2005
continued to work hard, preparing
ourselves for the future. The class president
and secretary were reelected, and Dan
Jamerson as treasurer, and Leejane
Villafuerte as vice president stepped into
the roles. During this year, WHS sports
excelled, with all sports putting together
successful seasons. Golf went undefeated,
track produced three CAL all stars, and the
basketball team went deep into the state
tournament. Also part of our sophomore
year was the dreaded MCAS. But with
graduation on the line, the class of 2005 did
great, and most succeeded. The year came
to a close, and we were one year closer to
graduation.

Junior year was a very important year
for the class of 2005. Over the summer,
many of us began visiting colleges, and
beginning the dreaded "college search".
With the help of our guidance counselors,
we worked hard searching through the
thousands of colleges throughout the
nation. In the end, with the help of guidance.

we all took a successful step towards our
future. On January 6, 2004, the class of 2005
was devastated to have suddenly lost one
of our most beloved students and friends,
Justin O'Neil. His passing came as a
surprise to all, as the students and faculty
became overwhelmed with grief. The class,
as well as the Wilmington community,
came together in mourning through such a
terrible time. We were all affected
differently by this loss, but in the end, we
all learned that one must live life to the
fullest; taking one day at a time for
everything its worth, because there is no
guarantee that there will always be another
day. The class of 2005 once again displayed
its resilience and valor, and we continued
to work hard, as well as pay our respects to
Justin. The class officers were reelected
and began working relentlessly to plan our
Junior Prom. Prom was held on May 7,

2004 at the Burlington Marriot. Joe Mayo
was crowned king and Rebecca Pane was
crowned queen, as everyone who attended
had a amazing time. We were now ready
to enter our final year of high school, our
senior year.

It was almost like yesterday when we
stepped through the main door of WHS,
both scared and excited, not knowing what
to expect. It was as as if were just a blink of
an eye, and now here we were, seniors! We
all laughed when people told us that our
four years in high school would fly by, but
now we finally understood. The class of

2005 welcomed two new class officers, Ray
Bennett as vice president, and Caroline
Lamson as treasurer, while president
Clayton Huynh and secretary Krystina
Smith were once again reelected. We also
welcomed a new principal, Mr. Tracy, who
promised to make our final year here at
WHS our best one yet, and he was right.
From the start, we all celebrated the success
of the football team. They posted an
undefeated regular season record, the best
in school history, and made it all the way to
the division semi-finals; a great year for a
great team. Girls soccer, cheerleading, and
golf also won the Cape Ann League. We all
continued with the college process, with
many receiving acceptances to some of the
premier colleges in the U.S. On January 6,
2005, the class of 2005 donated a memorial
bench to the Justin O'Neil Memorial Skate

Park, to honor the one-year anniversary of
the loss of Justin O'Neil. Once again, the
class officers did a great job in planning the
senior prom. It was held on May 20, 2005
at the Westin Hotel in Waltham. The night
was unforgettable. The year was winding
down, and the seniors came together for
the last time at the senior lock in. We
finally did it. We endured all the hardships,
conquered all the obstacles, survived
through the four years of tests, midterms,
and finals, and now we were finally going
to graduate. We all said our goodbyes, and
even though many of us were happy to
leave, we were all reluctant to say goodbye.
Wilmington High School was our school,
where friendships were born and broken,
where relationships were created and
destroyed, but overall, where the memories
were made and could never be forgotten.

dent Ray Bennett, and Secretary Krystina Smith

THE WONDER YEARS

At the start of the 1999/2000 School Year, the North
Intermdiate and West Intermediate Schools came
together, becoming the first class to graduate from

the new Wilmington

also the last class from
Wilmington to have the
opportunity to visit New
York City's World Trade
Center, as well as the
chance to take part in the

IT=

he homecoming dance kicked off the start of spirit week. The
week consisted of a day in which each class is assigned their
own themes...

(costume day for the seniors,
Hawaiin day for the juniors,
decade day for the softmores
and pajama day for the fresh-
man) followed by Army/
Navy Day. On the last day, all
of the classes dressed up in
blue and white to show their
Wilmington High School
Spirit. All of this led up to the
big homecoming game in
which we had a huge victory
over Lynnfield.

TOUGH GUYS..

t was a successful season
for the football team.

They were the first team
in school history to go 11-0. It
was the first time since 1972
that a team went undefeated
and the first time since 1976
that the Wildcats have com-
peted in the post-season. They
had key victories over
Pentucket (28-14), Masco (in

overtime, 20-14), and North
Andover (in a dramatic come
from behind, 30-29). Junior
quarterback Joe Herra was
named C AL Player of the Year.
All-League selections were
seniors Brennan Jones, Rob
GiUis, and Joe Mayo along with
juniors Sean Murphy, Matt
Marden, Stephen Downs, and
Joe Herra.

was led this year by
captains Michelle For-

DeirAnno, and Lindsey
Brown. While the team had a
great time cheering for the foot-

ball team, they also had a suc-

This year, the girls were Cape

girls also received a bid to Na-

this February in Georgia.

After losing nine seniors
from last year's team,
.the Boys Varsity Soc-
cer Team knew there would
be a lot of work to do this year.
Dealing with several injuries,
the team got off to a rough 2-
6-1 start. Although the season
had a rough beginning, the
boys were able to keep their
composure in the end. The
team was able to rebound for
the last eight games thanks to
inspirational speeches on how
soccer should be the only thing
on the players' minds, and not
trivial things like albino lob-
sters. Putting their record at 7-
8-2, the boys were one win
away from making the state

tournament In the rain under
the Wilmington lights, the Cats
took an early 2-0 lead against
Tewksbury, but the Redmen
were able to tie the game by
the second half. Neither team
could afford the tie; both teams
needing a win to advance to
the state tournament. With
less than thirty seconds left in
the match, Tewksbury was
about to score. However, as
the ball was about to cross the
goal line, a renegade Wildcat,
desparate to save the game,
illegally stuck his hand out to
swat the ball away from the
goal. Tewksbury was awarded
a potentially game winning
penalty kick, but the shot was
saved, and the game ended in
a 2-2 draw. While the Wild-
cats missed the tournament by
a hair, they were able to turn
the season around and keep
their biggest rival out of the
tournam^ent.

Tiis season was another
successful volleyball
season for the Girls Var-
sity Volleyball Team. The team
finished with an overall record
of 14-9 and a Cape Ann record
of 6-4. This year's team con-
sisted of one senior, six jun-
iors, and two sophomores.
Throughout the season, all
nine girls contributed to the
team in their own individual
ways. Led by their two junior
co-captains Kelley Lemke and
Megan Godding, along with
the lone senior Krystle Cham-
bers, this team was able to ac-
complish great things. While
WHS has made it to the State
Tournament for the past five

seasons, this team was one oil
only two teams to make it to
the Division 3 North Semi-Fi-
nals. In our post-season, the
team convincingly beat
Bedford 3-0 in our only home
tournament match (held on
Nov. 6th). The next round was
against the Presentation of
Mary in Methuan on Nov. 9th.
With another strong perfor-
mance, the girls were able to
win the match 3-1 and advance
to the semi-finals. The semi-
final match took place on Nov.
11th in North Reading. Unfor-
tunately, the team fell a little
short and lost the match 1-3.
Concluding the season, this|
young and inexperienced team
was able to achieve some great
goals that most veteran teams
wish to obtain.

Tie boys cross country
team finished off its
2004 with key victories
against North Reading,
Georgetown, and Ipswich.
This was accomplished under
the guidance of co-captains,
senior Chris Murray and jun-
ior Tom Miele, along with se-
niors Ray Bennett, Tom.
Blaisdell, Ryan Curtis, Dan
Ellsworth, Dan Jamerson, and
Mike St. Aubin. This season
came with a lot of firsts, in-
cluding Chris Murray setting
a new Wildcat course record
of 16:32, as well as having our
top five guys (Chris Murray,
Tom Miele, Ryan Curtis, Dan

Jamerson, and freshman Matt
Bibeau) all finish under 20 min-
utes for our 3.1 mile home
course. Other key perfor-
m.ances this year were given
by Sam Oglesby, Sean
MacPherson, Kevin Roballard,
and Chris Lyon.

This year's girls cross country
team had 3 runners, including
senior captains Liz Pettigrew
and Jen Loranger. Although
they did not have the numbers
to qualify to race, the girls still
had a good season. Everyone
set personal records and fin-
ished the season strong at the
CAL meet.

le WHS Golf team had
an excellent season this
year, as they finished
with a final record of 12-0-0.
This was the first time in team
history where the team had
achieved a perfect season. The
team clinched the CAL title
for the fifth time in six years,
with their closest victory of
the year against Masconomet
117-116. The team was led this
year by their two senior cap-
tains, Kevin Verlardo and
Brendan Strem. The other se-
niors on the team included

Mike Hackett, Brian Frongillo,
and Scott Konieczka. Other
contributors to the team's suc-
cess included juniors Zack
Ungvarsky, Jeff Yongclaus,
Alex Montalto, and sopho-
more Jason Evans. The team
tied for third in the North
Sectionals finals and overall
fourth in the State finals.

The team gave their coach
Al Fessenden a great final year,
as he has decided to retire af-

of service. Thanks Coach!

Tie Wildcat Wrestling
team made history this
year, becoming the first
team in school history to win
the sectional tournament. As
a dual meet squad, the team
was 12-7. The Wildcats fin-
ished 2nd in the Cape Ann
League Tournament behind
North Andover and 2nd in the
HoUiston Invitational Tourna-
ment behind Longmeadow.

The team sent nine sectional
place finishers to states, at
Taconic Regional High School
in Pittsfield, Mass., in hope of
making history yet again.

The team had ten very
hardworking seniors on the
team this year and a very good
group of underclassmen. The
team showed what it takes to
win and had a sensational sea-

son.

fantastic year, clinch-

Cape Ann League title. The
team has great potential and
should make a strong run in

le Boys Varsity Hockey
team had its ups and
downs this season but
finished just shy of reaching
the state tournament. Fight-
ing for a .500 record, the Wild-
cats fell short late in the sea-
son, even with strong effort
from senior forwards Zack
Wilkins and Ed Tucker and a
solid defense by senior Ray
Bennett. In goal, senior Tim
Anderson had a good first sea-
son as starter. The Cats also
got production from under-
classmen, who will continue

to excel in future seasons.

The Cats finished off the sea-
son graduating 5 seniors, in-
cluding Tim Anderson (assis-
tant captain and goalie), Ed
Tucker (captain and forward),
Zack Wilkins (forward), Tom
Blaisdell (forward), and Ray
Bennett (assistant captain and
defenseman). The team is left
with some talented players^'
who are capable of com.peting

though the team did not make
states, it will be a season to
remember.
